Salina, KS…. Central Mall has begun the renovation process for its aquarium. The interior renovations will include new equipment to ensure the tank is filtered properly for the safety of the fish, updates to the landscape, as well as the addition of new fish. The exterior renovations will include updates and additions to the educational material, Sponsored by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, as well as a new aesthetic look to the tank. During the renovation process, the fish that currently call the aquarium home, will be safely transferred to the Milford Fish Hatchery, and returned upon completion. The renovations are scheduled to last approximately two months.
The Central Mall Aquarium is a unique and educational attraction, representative of a living and dynamic Kansas fish community. The aquarium is the largest free standing tank display in the state of Kansas, holding back nearly 15,000 gallons of water. The tank is home to 50-100 native Kansas fish including channel catfish, albino catfish, blue gill, largemouth and white bass, snapping turtles, as well as other harder to find fish as water conditions and availability allow.
